Lim Suat Hua graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor in Architecture from the National University of Singapore (formerly known as University of Singapore). She is a member of the Board of Architects, Singapore. She is also a member as well as a past council member of the Singapore Institute of Architects. She was a member of Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia; Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia and Royal Institute of the British Architects.

She was an Associate Partner of RSP Architects, Planners & Engineers Pte Ltd (formerly known as Raglan, Squire & Partners) until she established S. H. Lim & Associates in 1979 and incorporated S. H. Lim Architects Pte Ltd in October 1992.

Lim Suat Hua, Chairman/Managing Director of S. H. Lim Architects Pte Ltd has a distinguished background in Architecture. She has led the team to become a well-known local Architecture Company. She was a Director of a public-listed company, Asiamedic Ltd. She was one of the founding members of Asia HealthPartners Pte Ltd and also one of the two founding members of Singapore Healthpartners Pte Ltd (now known as Farrer Group Company Pte Ltd), developer for a 20-Storey Hospital, Medical Suites and Hotel Complex and was an Executive Director from Year 2007 – 2010. She is Chairman/Director of numerous private investment and property development companies.

She has found time to do community work and was a member of the Tampines Citizen Consultation Committee, Rotary Club of Singapore and council member of Lions Club District 308. She was Chairperson of Raffles Institution / Raffles Junior College Parents Association (1991 – 1997) and member of the Board of Governor, Raffles Institution (1996 – 2002).
